I used to live near International City in a place called Desert Palm.

International City is one of the few places left in Dubai where you can still get close to reasonable rentals. Granted it is far out and I definitely think its the type of place where your wife would get bored, not to mention the fact that from what I hear the apartments and facilities are pretty spartan.
