Thought I might as well make a thread for this since we have a small render and we know it's definitely going ahead., I love these, really something I didn't expect at all. I thought the whole thing would be all curves and look pretty messy and overdone.

Perhaps if anyone out there who is in New York, or anyone who knows anyone who is in new York, perhaps to go to the exhibit and take a much more proper shot of the image of the towers? My personal opinion... I thought it would have much more drama. to me it looks a bit tame... conceptually I prefer it to be wilder... much more sinuous and have the zaha "umph" feel... btw, do any of you guys have the hinge magazine last month? some dancing tower by aedas in there too (not the one in their website)

Dubai: Baghdad-born architect Zaha Hadid has won a design bid for three prestigious towers at Dubai's upcoming commercial district Business Bay. Dubai Properties, a real estate arm of Dubai Holding and developer of the Bay project, said the work of Britain-based Zaha Hadid Architects was selected after an international contest. The design of the towers will be unveiled in New York next week, Dubai Properties said, without giving details of the buildings. A celebrated architect, Hadid in 2004 became the first woman to win the Pritzker Prize, sometimes described as the "Nobel Prize of Architecture". One of Hadid's current projects is for the 20,000-seat Aquatics Centre in London, which will be a venue of the 2012 Summer Olympics. "This is the first international design competition initiated by Dubai Properties. The aim of the competition is to bring the best practices and innovations from around the world to Dubai," said Hashim Al Dabal, chief executive officer of Dubai Properties. Besides Hadid, pitches were also submitted by Morphosis Architects of Los Angeles, RUR Architecture of New York, and Rotterdam's Office of Metropolitan Architects. Hadid's prize-winning entry was selected by a jury who hailed her "ingenious design as a unique blend of form and function," Dubai Properties said in a statement. "When executed, Hadid's creation will represent an inimitable interpretation of architectural excellence in Dubai that no other city has dared to dream," it added. Dubai Properties said Hadid's design proposal is "indicative of the architect's distinctive style with the towers reflecting a dynamic fusion of volume and space."

The design of Business Bay, Dancing Towers, was revealed at New York’s prestigious Guggenheim Museum, as part of a retrospective exhibition on UK-based architect, Zaha Hadid. The Iraqi-born architect was recently declared the winner of an international competition to design three iconic towers at Business Bay, the region’s business capital. Hashim Al Dabal, CEO of Dubai Properties said: “Zaha Hadid’s design for the Dancing Towers confirms Business Bay’s role as a project that reflects Dubai’s rapidly changing future.” “The towers incorporate avant-garde definitions of functionality and form that will not only create a distinctive landmark at Business Bay, but also symbolise a new phase in Dubai’s architectural standards.” The bold design concept of Dancing Towers features a ‘choreographed’ fluidity that combines the three towers in one overall gesture. Connecting the commercial, residential and hospitality sections of Business Bay, the three towers will share a common base, or podium, that will feature retail, restaurants and related amenities. The three towers will be conjoined two by two, with the offices and hotel at the base and the hotel and residences at the top. On Level 7, the floor spaces of the hotel and the office towers will merge to create a link to the hotel business center with meeting rooms, office facilities and services for guests. The residential tower merges into the hotel on level 38, for residents to share collective leisure facilities, including the indoor swimming pool and other amenities. On level 65 of the hotel, the three towers meet again to share a panoramic restaurant offering spectacular views of Dubai Creek, Business Bay, Burj Dubai Downtown, and the Arabian Gulf beyond. “The advantage of conjoining the three towers in one design is to allow people to live a full day cycle between the offices, residences and the hotel,” said Al Dabal. Business Bay is Dubai Properties’ 80 million square feet master development, located along the extension of the Dubai Creek. It aims to provide world-class environment and infrastructure for global businesses, as well as a self-sustaining lifestyle for residents. Zaha Hadid was the first woman to receive the distinguished Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004. Once considered impractical, her architectural concepts are now seen in landmark projects across Europe, North America and Asia.
