In order to speed up implementation of the largest road project currently being undertaken in the emirate, Dubai Municipality has divided the Ras Al Khor road network projects into six contracts that carry a total estimated cost of Dh1.85 billion ($503 million).
The project involves a fourth crossing over Dubai Creek and a an express highway from the First Interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road, passing through Doha Street and Jeddaf Area and linking the new Ras Al Khor bridge.
A special task force has been formed in the Municipality to follow up implementation of the fifth and sixth contracts and to overcome any obstacles that could prevent the project from being completed on time, he said.
He noted that the improvements on the First Interchange of Sheikh Zayed Road and construction of a two-layer road on Doha Street form part of the fourth crossing project. "This project is vital in containing projected vehicular traffic from major developments such as Burj Dubai, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Dubai Business Bay and other ambitious developments on both sides of the project," he said |
