Dubai Municipality has issued the license to build a 31-story building in Dubai Marina at a cost of Dhs 97 million. The building will have a basement, ground floor, and 31 upper stories. The total built-up area will be more than 274,000 square feet while the plot area is over 36,000 square feet. Mr.Saleh added that the building would have a total of 165 apartments with 54 single bedroom apartments, 77 apartments with two bedrooms and 34 apartments with three bedrooms. Besides, there will be shops at a total area of 5272 square feet. The parking lot can accommodate 215 cars.

I don’t think every building should be creative and should stand out. There’s something nice about having special buildings, foreground building, followed by background buildings which attend to the streetscape. it creates a nice elevation when they’re put next to each other.

Not asking it to 'stand out'....even a little bit creativity would do. Its obvious not every tower can stand out like the Park Place or something, but then again not every tower has to look the same, in this case like the Avant residence.

I used to think that Dubai Marina and JLT were almost like Dubai's last big chance to have a really cool dense skyline to compete with the current top skyscraper cities. But when Business Bay was launched I realized that all those breathtaking designs we've been waiting for were being saved for this real new commercial downtown. I think DM was never planned to be anything more than an upscale high-rise residential suburb. That’s the reason why I really don’t mind if the skyscraper designs aren’t top notch in New Dubai. I think the really good designs are saved for SZR (as SA Boy's pics from cityscape showed) and now Business Bay. I don’t think the developers have any excuses to come up with less than awesome designs for the new downtown.
