Default Wind Towers JLT Progress - 19-05-2007, 04:38 PM

It is good, some progress is happening.

I sounded the real estate market, and it can't be denied the Wind is having a better image, with the more cost effective units of JLT.

However, in a way it is bad to be the cheapest units in JLT, because potential buyers are afraid that this attractive price is hiding something wrong behind. I am confident that as soon the tower actually starts to grow, we'll reach the 900 AED/Sft, very quickie.

If The Wind is this time, on time, it will be a win-win for all: investors & developers & partners.

Finally, I heard The Wind had its own TV station: I was curious to have a look at it: well, it's all crap and useless. My advice to Wind is to stop spending money and time on this TV project and concentrate ONLY in the WIND 1 and WIND 2 construction. Their credibility is at stake.

I have got my money back from Wind and have moved on.

However, I would like to make 2 comments.

Firstly, it seems that Wind are giving regular updates and things are moving forward. Things may start to look promising by the end of the summer.

Secondly, people have stated that the first floor should be COMPLETED by June or July. This is not going to happen as it will be May next week. Maybe construction will START in June or maybe Wind will THINK about construction in June. If this does not happen then panic when you have your meeting in the UK.

I wish you all the best of luck and I hope the WSP will give you a timetable for construction as tinkering with the hole in the ground is annoying for you. I hope you will have a home by 2009 .

First of all I would like to thank you for your concern for the progress of construction of the Wind towers. And about the price of Wind units, once the floors are being built, the price will definitely increase to a higher price. And finally about Wind TV. We accept your criticism; every one is entitled to give their opinion about anything they want on this web log, well to clarify things please observe the following explanation:

Wind International Design & Property Development has a total asset of $2billion; they have over 10 big projects over the world. Currently they are consulting a 1300 hectare land project in the Gulf. They have about $200 million built properties in UAE. Apart from all this they have a university in Dubai Knowledge Village and the Wind TV is the production of the students in the university. Wind Towers at JLT is a small portion of Wind’s assets and investments, for these towers they have paid more than AED 350million to the contractor, they have paid AED 100million for materials and equipments to be used for the construction of these towers. Wind has knowledge villages in many poor areas in Iran. Currently they are designing the biggest high rise hotel in Dubai. The profit that they gain from their engineering company is more than AED 100million.
As for the static test which is currently under progress, to transfer 1000 cement blocks, Wind had to pay AED 400,000

I just spent a week in my apartment on the Marina, whose 11th floor balcony overlooks the Wind sites, albeit from the other side of SZR. The cranes did not noticeably change position at any time during the whole of my stay (the buildings behind the Wind were a hive of activity). Did not see any movement of plant/machinery at all. Did however see a few workers milling around the site offices and walking backwards and forwards between the portacabins and the hole (from time-to-time).

However, I couldn’t see the excavations very well from my angle and much could have been going on away from my line of sight.

I was on the site last week and there is no pit to be seen. My new apartment has a direct view from Marina onto this and was visiting another tower resident here in Dubai Marina and when we looked from the balcony there was no construction pit to be seen. Also..... Looked several times a day, a couple of days in a row.... NOBODY ON SITE.....
