The Palm Jebel Ali is more of an entertainment destination for both adults and children. The island will also be 50% larger than The Palm Jumeirah, and will include six marinas, a 'Sea Village', a water theme park and water homes built on stilts between the fronds and the crescent. Reclaimation work began on this island in October 2002 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2007.

I was thinking about buying a garden home here, for the same homes that are selling at 7 million plus on Palm Jumeirah, you can still buy for under 4 million on Jebel Ali. Problem is, I think they could be 4 years away, and that's for the first one to move in, some could be 5 years or more. To compare, was reviewing the old Palm Jumeirah archives on this forum, and 2.5 years ago several fronds had all the villa structures up (exterior shells only). So given the Palm Jebel Ali is bigger, and therefore infrastructure could take longer, I reckon 4 years is the minimum from where they are now to somebody getting keys. As far as I can find out the original payment schedule was scrapped and most Palm Jebel Ali owners have still paid only the original 10% deposit, unless they sold on, in which case an additional 10% accelerated payment is made every time they change hands. Nevertheless, on paper there's still a 3-4 million profit sitting in a garden home by the time it's built. Very tempting. Anyone got any more info on the payment schedule or have any view son whether this is a good investment?

Well, obviously Nakheel might learn from their mistakes and get it done better. Also, with the palm jebel ali being bigger, it will probably have more people to solve the infrastructure proplems

The villas on palm [not in] jumeriah had a lot of work on them ovber the last 2 1/2 years. they were still having problems with structures early this year. i would assume that htye go for higher quality construction on PJA and that the wait would be closer to a year rather than 2 1/2 that was needed on the palm [not in] jumeriah

It's pretty obvious that a lot of lessons have been learned from the creation and construction of Palm Jumeirah. Naturally there have been mistakes and these won't be repeated on PJA. I read an article where the Chief Exec(?) said if they were doing Palm Jumeriah again, they would do it differently. Especially with regard to putting all the roads in first. I think we are talking three years rather than five, because of the lessons learned and now knowing better/quicker ways of doing things. For instance the soil densification is all being done by Nakheel themselves, rather than the individual developers
