UAE Property Investment Forum

Mortgages and finance The UAE mortgage and lending market had remained a very elite institution until recently with banks only lending to large scale developers. However, with the increasing number of developments and the slow growth of the property market, banks have been forced to open up their doors to end users and investors as well. Though interest rates are still relatively high, local demand has been strong for borrowing. More banks are offering higher lending today as opposed to a year ago, but repayments are still a burden. Which lenders offer the best rates? What developments do they finance? What criteria do they use? If you have any valuable insight, please share it with others here.

Default Becoming a mortgage broker in Dubai - 02-09-2007, 07:57 PM

Hey all,

Does anyone know if there are any courses and licenses one has to acquire in Dubai before becoming a mortgage broker, and also where to get such training and certification?

Looked all over Dubai and could not come up with anything. Is this industry even regulated here like it is in Canada and the UK etc?

Cheers!
Dave

Hi Dave, there are no specific courses that you need to complete to become a mortgage broker in Dubai. It is simply a matter of joining a company or obtaining a licence of your own. What line of work are you currently in? Why are you trying to become a broker? I am a broker myself and would be more than happy to help.

Hi Ellie

what's the broker market like in Dubai, in terms of are they operated by locals or ex pats and are they one- two man operations like the independents in the U.K or larger firms. Also do they tend to be linked to the local Real Estate offices?

I'm a mortgage broker based in the U.K and considering a move to Spain but want to find out a bit more on Dubai and any opportunities that may exist.

Thanks
