Buying a Property & Residence VISA

Solicitors / Legal advisors Even though the property ownership laws have never been clearly defined, investors have been snapping up properties in Dubai and Sharjah without any legal consultation. Contracts still remain very one-sided favouring the developers with no respite for the purchaser. Solicitor firms are now coming into the limelight with the market being dominated by some key players primarily due to overseas investor interest and caution. How do you think the solicitors should take this matter forward? Have you bought a property without a solicitor? What would you recommend to fellow investors? Share you valuable insight and knowledge with others.

Buying a Property & Residence VISA - 28-04-2007, 11:57 AM

Hi all,

I have been in Dubai now for around 10 months and am considering purchasing a property.

I am keen to get feedback from expats who have purchased property with any advice that you can give.

I am a bit confused on the residence visa that comes along with purchasing a property, I am looking at purchasing a 2 bedroom apartment, does this mean I can get two visa's with this?

Also I will be purchasing the property with a friend (not a spouse) are there any restrictions on placing a property in two names if we are not married?

Obviously finance is something that we will need....is this best sought from the property developer or a bank?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated!
