UAE Property Investment Forum

Abu Dhabi Property The Abu Dhabi property market came into the limelight when the Abu Dhabi government issued a law allowing foreigners 99 years leasehold ownership of select projects in the Emirate. Prior to this law, property ownership was restricted to locals and that too, within a select few. Abu Dhabi has announced a number of large scale projects, some even grander than those in Dubai. Al Dar Properties was the first company in Abu Dhabi to announce projects that allowed foreign ownership. Do you think Abu Dhabi will be as successful as Dubai? What kind of returns can investors expect in this market? Have you invested yourself in Abu Dhabi? Open up your suggestions and views here.

Default NOOR AL AIN (Al Ain) - 19-04-2007, 02:40 PM

Aldar Properties unveiled a Dh2 billion mixed-use integrated complex, Noor Al Ain, that would emerge on the existing Al Jimi Mall to offer modern residential, shopping, and leisure facilities to the residents.

The development of the project will be based on the popular styles of multi-function shopping areas found at Sydney's Darling Harbour and Brisbane's South Bank, with a modern twist of Arabia.

Construction is already under way and investors are open to purchase residential space, and retailers to lease with the development, Ali Al Sayegh, chairman of Aldar Properties, said yesterday.

The centre will also have a 300-room business hotel, department stores, cinemas, family entertainment facilities, luxury offices, terraced gardens, family dining, a health and fitness club, water park, and an indoor beach.

Noor Al Ain will cover about 177,900 square metres of land, situated between Bin Hamdan and Mubarak Streets.

"The centre will provide an opportunity to Emiratis to purchase residential properties within a vibrant environment," he said, adding that Aldar had consulted world-leading architects to ensure a good development.

Retail leasing opportunities, said the chairman, are currently open with applications for the purchase of on-site apartments due to be available within the coming months.

"The creation of this retail and leisure complex will form a new town centre and will add great benefit for Al Ain residents to shop, rest and play, while also ensuring the region's special character and charm are retained," said Al Sayegh.

Ron Barrott, CEO of Aldar, said Noor Al Ain will be more of a destination than a mall, offering a retail mix and facilities for all budgets designed for the family. "This exciting development will set itself apart in Al Ain and set new standards of quality and design," he said.

I remember vividly how Sheikh Zayed (may he rest in peace) was very much against having any construction in al aim of any building that was over 5 floors high; he didn’t want anything to ruin the beautiful image of al aim with its date trees, and the oasis and the mountains

Change can be made while keeping the traditional look. You don’t need high skyscrapers to announce that change has arrived. In fact, there are so many skyscrapers and towers in the UAE that going back to the smaller, more spread out complexes IS indeed change on its own!!!
